Ashley Rhianne is going back to NYCairo in April to perform, train and compete.  She will be performing on Thursday April 20 and competing on Friday April 21.  She is very excited to train with her mentors Randa Kamel, Tito Seif & Mohamed Shahin and also study with Anna Borisova and Vanessa!  It will also mark her 3rd time at NYCairo which is an amazing event – if you ever want to attend a festival in North America, this one comes highly recommended!

Ashley Kirkham and Tim Gerwing are excited to offer a workshop for dancers to learn about the most commonly encountered Middle Eastern rhythms on March 26, 2017. This will be the fourth workshop in the series and will focus on rhythms of a megeance. The workshop will cover rhythms which will be explained and demonstrated by Tim Gerwing. Technique and combinations will be taught by Ashley Kirkham.

New Beginner Class in Richmond

Ashley Rhianne is pleased to offer a new beginner dance class in Richmond!

Classes will start March 25 from 11:30am-1pm.

Session One: March 25  – April 29  (sub teacher April 22)

Session Two: May 6– June 24 (no class May 20)

Pay for both sessions together and save 10%

Classes will cover technique, combinations, rhythms and choreography.

Small Stages Salon Series – Volume 4 & 5

ashley-dance-small-stage-2016Ashley will be performing in the DFASS Salon Series  Volume 4 + 5 Incubator Project 24 November +1 December, 2016 at The Emerald Supper Club.

DFASS continue to new works with a unique range of dancers and musicians who are experimenting with new ideas and forms of technology to inspire innovative work. This unique group of artists will electrify audiences beyond the constraints of the physical venue.

This project comes from a need to invest in artists and their creative practice. It’s about building space for risk, while focusing on shared learning experiences. It builds on unique opportunities and challenges diverse dance artists who are interested in growing their work in new and exciting ways.

Third Place Winner in Toronto, 2016

Ashley-Dance-Randa-Kamel-3rd-Place-2016Ashley is thrilled to announce that she was the 3rd place winner in the Randa Kamel & Mohamed Shahin Crown Competition on October 29, 2016 in Toronto.  Ashley placed 3 out of 11 dancers.  A huge congrats to Oksana Jirnova who won 2nd Place and Monet Deneen who won the Crown!  Ashley thanks the judges Dr. George Sawa, Mohamed Shahin and Randa Kamel for their selection, Nada el Masriya for her hard work putting the event together and all the fellow dancers and competitors – everyone was very supportive and encouraging!


Small Stages 34 – October 13 – 16 2016

ashley-dance-small-stage-2016Ashley will be performing in the Small Stages 34 season kick off October 13 – 16, 2016 at The Anza Club in Vancouver.  She will be performing a piece titled “Taboo”  with Vancouver’s legendary burlesque artist Burgundy Brixx and percussionist Jason Ovary, exploring the origins, crossovers, comparison, taboos and stereotypes of Oriental and Burlesque.

The Layali Dancers Student Recital

layalidancersnov30The Layali Dancers are PLEASED to invite you to their first student recital November 30, 2016. They will be joined by Mozaico Flamenco, Andrea Flamenco, and other special guests!

Doors open at 7:30pm, show starts at 8pm. 19 years + only.

Tickets $15 online, $20 at door. Proceeds going to a valuable member of our dance community who is facing some health challenges.
